Right in the Middle

I am right in the middle.  This week I am keenly aware of how in the middle I am.  In the middle between generations that is.  I went to lunch on Thursday with my mother and her sister and sister in law and brother in law.  Another words with my Aunts and Uncles.  They go to lunch every month.  I was shopping with my mother that day and got invited along.  They are all that is left from that generation in our family.  Mom is 82, Aunt Ruth is a little older.  Aunt Carol is not yet 80 as far as I know, she is the youngster of the group and Uncle Trez is 80.  Uncle Trez picks up the girls and takes them for lunch once a month.  They catch up with each other, update each other on family events and just hang out.  They are their peers and they are comfortable together.  This week I interloped but they were glad to have me and I was glad to be there.  I really should go again soon.  I have next months date since I was there when the next date was chosen.  Now for the middle part.  Today I am helping give a shower for my daughter in law.  We are having a baby here and it is so exciting.  Here I am the old one.  I am the Grandma and I love it.  I will be looked at as the old one, the wise one (I hope) the other generation.  I want to be included in the lives of those younger and I want to be thought of as important to them.  I can’t wait for this child to be here to touch and love and watch grow.  I guess as I look at my week past, I realize that I should make time for that older group, they won’t be here all that much longer for me to enjoy and I should realize that soon, oh to soon I will be them.  I want someone to go for lunch with me then too.  Have good day and hug someone on either side of your middle.

A Reunion Tomorrow

Grace is celebrating 50 years of being here.  Tommorow is a reunion of confirmation classes for the last 25 years.  I pulled out some pics of the kids when they were there and here are a few of them.  I sure had fun pulling them up on the computer   ice cream

February already

I cannot believe it is already February.   We are making plans for the summer trip to New Orleans and the National Lutheran Youth Gathering.  The excitement is mounting and I can say that I too am eagerly anticipating a great experience.  Tonight a great game of WII is taking place in my living room.  The Anthony WII challenge.   He beats the pants off us and loves every minute.  DSCN0734 DSCN0735
